Chunky, what's that? It looks like you used that GLSL shaders mod or whatever it's called. Wow! Gorgeous!

Apparently Chunky is a rendering program, where you select some chunks from a world, and it renders it as if it was with the shaders and stuff.

That looks amazing, Wartower! I've always loved shaders and stuff. Adds to the 3D aspect of Minecraft, in my opinion.

Before the real update- you wanted more square items DD?

WarTower9's guide to starting a project:
-Decide that your current project(s) are getting a bit boring, and that it is time to start something new.
-Choose a theme.
-Find a location.
-Begin to harvest materials for the project (Enchanting items, collecting resources, moving stuff).
-Build a Nether Portal to your new project area, unless it's incredibly close, and set up a small base of operations.
-Connect the Portal in one way or another, and transfer all your necessary materials to the new project site.
-Design the build in some image editor.
-Clear the land needed for the project.
-Build an outline.
-Start the actual project.

And now, the actual version that I did.
-Decide that your current project(s) are getting a bit boring, and that it is time to start something new.
Hmm... The hole/tower is actually pretty much finished, except for the tracks to the stronghold and balconies, which I use the Nether for, and the farms, which aren't really needed, since I have the same farms nearby on the surface/
So I finished the Trophy room-

And started the next task.
-Choose a theme.
To me this was obvious. Castle with 9 towers. Bam! Done!
-Find a location.
Off to adventure. In the end I was back nearby spawn (I think).

Location: Forest.

-Begin to harvest materials for the project (Enchanting items, collecting resources, moving stuff).
Two parts to this- Stone/Stone Bricks collection, and then enchanting an axe for the wood-cutting required.
Well that first part was easy.

The second is... Slightly harder.
F---.

Double F---.

New way to kill them.

By now this was a very welcome surprise...

-Build a Nether Portal to your new project area, unless it's incredibly close, and set up a small base of operations.

-Connect the Portal in one way or another, and transfer all your necessary materials to the new project site.
Ready.

-Design the build in some image editor.
Paint. Sucks. Really. Seriously. Use Plotz. It works better.
-Clear the land needed for the project. Fire and axes. Oh yeah.

-Build an outline.
Cobblestone 50 block diameter circle? Done.
-Start the actual project.
Stone brick wall? Oh yeah.

So nicely organized and thought out! It's going to be neat watching your progress in building a castle!

Yay for more square items! A square egg makes much more sense being laid by a square chicken! I never saw the flint and steel before, either. Is that new too, or maybe I just never saw that yet?

New, I think. I might have done it a while ago, but not updated it for awhile.

Oooh. A castle! Can't wait to see it in all its hugeness.

Sucks that you died twice at your Enderman farm. =/ But you got an awesome axe out of it! I'm slightly jelly, bro. Haha.

So. Much. Stone.

I actually had to build a cobblestone generator (although my one is a bit more complicated. Redstone and stuff).

And a Quarry. Yes, a Quarry.
\

Progress Pictures:

Enchanting Break!

More Progress:

Base of Operations:

Strip mining for cobblestone. The Diamonds are just extra (and really abundant).

One last thing- I've already used up that Eff. IV pick. Yeah.

Last but not least, I need some advice- the current plans for the castle are the outside wall, and a large tower in the middle. problem is that I need some sort of design for the outside wall- Some kind of decoration that'll go along the wall and look cool. I tried it with upside stairs and slabs (stone ones), but it blends to much and doesn't look so great, so I'm open to suggestions.

Holy junk, that's a lot of stone.

Are the walls hollow or are they all filled in? And if they are hollow, you gonna put stuff inside? I like the contrast of the half slabs every few blocks on top of the wall.

And how'd you get the circle so perfect?? That's insanely awesome, man!

Dat pickaxe. Never have I seen an Efficiency V, Fortune III, Unbreaking III. That is really awesome, especially on a diamond pick.

The water bucket actually looks pretty cool! Don't know what you were worried about. Haha. But I can't figure out what the thing beside the torches in the enchantment pics are. Zombie flesh?

By the outside wall, do you mean the top or the sides? Top looks fine to me. Haha. Sides, I have no idea. Arched windows, maybe?

It is a whole crap-ton of stone. Tons of it.

The walls are hollow. Hopefully I'll find stuff to put in it.

http://www.plotz.co.uk/ and http://www.mineconics.net/

The pick, I agree, is awesome.

I think I'm starting to warm to the bucket texture. I'm glad you like it! And yeah, that's zombie flesh.

The sides, and Arched windows sounds great.

I just bookmarked both those sites. Where has this stuff been?

Ha hah! I knew it was zombie flesh by the colors 'cause I remember you saying you don't change the original colors. Yep.

Plotz, I found a while ago.
Mineconics was a site Arkas, legendary secretive build of the Mindcrack Server, talked about in one of his videos.

That made me look at the Minecraft Tools section of the MC forums. Everything blows my mind in there.

You got quite a lot done! Cobblestone generator, very good idea. And aaaah more diamonds.

That's it. I need to go mining. I'm down to 20 diamonds and I don't have any good work picks.

For your tower...Adding in some sort of windows would be nice, mixing up the materials with some stone brick or smooth stone perhaps? Your lovely sandstone tower had very few materials, but the shape was so interesting it worked great, so dunno. I'm sure you'll figure something out to add some detail to your walls.

Yeah, I hope so. I think windows would add something, and so would different materials. Maybe windows surrounded by the other material?

Yeah, like, maybe those light-colored half-slabs or something? Or iron blocks, if you have enough iron for that?

Can't go wrong with smooth stone slabs, or upside down stairs! Framing the windows in different materials would look great. If you do some experimenting, show us what you got! :D

Just something- I was starting to get burned out of building the tower, and I ended up playing the Survival Games. On my ****ty internet. SG+SI= D. D=Death. It's incredibly hard to do PvP when you're lagging the entire time... Dammit! But it was still fun, I played a few games.
And onto the update:

I have had a revelation!

Well, more like I realized something. The outer wall shouldn't have windows, because it's a barrier, and a protection system, rather than a tower. So no windows on the outside.

On the other hand, I spent 20 minutes designing a gate.

And then copied the same design when I was building the tower in the center of the outer wall.

So yeah, if anyone has any ideas for the tower, they are very much welcome.

Did you do some pruning on those trees in the first pic? Haha.

I really like that gatehouse, or is it just a gate? Either way, neat design!

And true, windows on the outer wall don't really make sense. Haha. They did use to have slit-like windows within gatehouses so archers and crossbowmen could shoot at enemy forces coming through. But that's neither here nor there. ^_^

As for the tower, no ideas coming from my brain right now, unless you want to taper it into a spire because that's the only thing I could think of...

Well they were in the way, and I have an awesome axe.

Just a gate, I think. Not sure yet.

'Neither Here Nor There'- isn't that the title of a Bill Bryson book? Bryson is a great author.

Yeah I was thinking of the murder holes or whatever they're called. No fancy glass, just use some slabs and stairs in a way to make little openings and in 1.3 you'll be able to actually shoot through them. Though of course, skellies will be able to shoot through them, too.

Or maybe you want some depth to your walls? You helped me rethink my boring townhall walls, so I'm going to suggest some fluting. Even if it's all cobblestone, it'll add some interesting shadows so the walls aren't totally flat.

As for the tower, ah, a spire like Gilbert suggested would be cool! Another idea, I like the look of a tower with different widths at various points so it's not just a straight up cylinder but has a nice shape to it...maybe a bit thinner in the middle and then it tapers out again at the top...that make sense?

I like the gates, by the way. And PvP, wow you're brave! My internet is pretty good but my fighting skills aren't, so I don't even dare attempt to fight other players. Not yet, anyway.

I'm thinking about little openings, but not sure yet.

Shadows sound cool.

The idea of a Wide, Thin, Wide building (like an hourglass) sounds very cool, but I'm thinking more of a conventional tower. I'm gonna put that idea in the back of my head. It might come in hand someday.

I'm the opposite. Good at PvP when my internet works, but crappy internet.

Having an awesome axe is always a good reason to prune trees. Hahaha.

Bill Bryson, you say? What kinda books does he script?

Bill Bryson does autobiographical humor (Books about himself and his life in a humorous way). If you want to start reading him, try The Thunderbolt Kid, and then 'A Walk In The Woods'.
