Ugh, yes. Spiders the size of small rodents in Florida. *Shivers. Even though spiders aren't bugs, it's still gross. Haha.

Meh, lighting glitches don't bother me much. I kinda think of it as a puzzle to see how I can get each one to go away by exerting the least amount of energy.

Yess! Swamp and snow biome villages would be great!

I hope the swamps get fixed a bit, though, before they start putting villages in them. I don't like the purple leaves and grass and the openness of them. I've been to swampy, marshy places. They're not dark and purple and dotted with little trees here and there. They're very green and foresty. Oh well. It is, after all, not really Earth. The testificates prove that.

I wouldn't mind lighting glitches so much if they didn't affect half slabs and stairs.

You know what would make swamps better? Crocodiles. No wait. Alligators. Whatever. And I agree with daydrifter - swamps need to be more verdant.

When I tried out the Mo Creatures mod, the swamps were vastly improved with gators and turtles, but they were still ugly.

I tried "mo creatures" once. Couldn't find sheep anywhere! I'm not kidding. And some of the mo creatures mobs could spawn anywhere - including inside my house; which is okay if it's a rabbit, but not okay if it's a lion or something! haha!

I like swamps like they are, but they could be improved in terms of mobs and general design. Haha. I've never seen any swamp with more land than water or killer lily pads. Lily pads should be like leaves. *Nods.

You guys beat me to it. I read about the addition of the stairs and was like hnnnnng yes must go post about that on the AMCWAS Forums! When they say 'hardware resources' does that mean the lag will be even worse for people like me without super monster gaming machines? :(

Erm..... maybe not "monster gaming machine" per se; probably just a decent ammount of RAM and/or processing power -- and they do say that they're trying to fix this problem. I hope they do: Other wise Mojang will have a lot of unhappy people; I don't think it'll be too much of a problem though = if you can play Minecraft and have two or three additional programs running in the background you'll be fine :) I hope.

I can't really run other programs while playing Minecraft (except Gimp seems to be fine, but not windows media player). When I purchased my laptop, I didn't intend to play pc games on it so I didn't think I would need anything that powerful. I bought it September of last year. If I had known I would discover Minecraft a month later, I would have saved up longer to get something better, but not much I can do about it now. I probably shouldn't be playing Minecraft on this computer but it's the only option I have and with Optifine it's not too bad. :P

Ahhhh .. I guess I'm used to my Desktop PC which can handle just about anything thrown at it. Except blunt objects [!!!] haha! but yeah, it's fairly fast, lots of RAM etc.... I can usually run Minecraft, iTunes, Microsoft Office, Google Chrome [with about 6 or 7 tabs lol]; and at least 1 or 2 other programs without worrying about my computer exploderising. Yeah, I made that last word up :P

Ooh, hardware resources? I might have a problem also, then. My laptop's about four years old, so it's just barely running Minecraft right now. When I check, CPU's up to around 75% with Minecraft paused, and the memory is way up there. Haha. Maybe I can just get some more RAM for it...

I must be the only person here without a laptop :P Well .. okay I *do* have an old laptop but I can usually run most games of it okay - I used to play WoW on it all the time :P Anyhoo, how much do Desktop computers cost in the US? My desktop PC was around £400 - that's approx. $640 - and my PC isn't even considered "top of the range" --- my brother spent nearly a grand on his PC :P

On Topic: More Villager "types" currently there are 5: Farmer, Butcher, Priest, Librarian, Blacksmith ((The wiki says 6, but that's a big.fat.lie)) - I'd like to see more villager types and - of course - new buildings to house them :)

I didn't even bother pricing desktops when I was researching laptops to buy, so I'm not entirely sure. I should hope that for that much money your computer is pretty good. I think my laptop is decent for most things, especially for the money. It was actually fun buying the laptop, because I won most of the money at the MGM Casino here in Detroit (spent 20 dollars of my own money and won about 300 :D), and when I went to Best Buy to pick out a computer I knew exactly which model I wanted, and had just enough money in cash on me to buy it along with a flashdrive that was on sale at the time (I'm cheap okay?). Still the salesman kept trying to sell me printers and stuff for several hundred more. *rolls eyes*

Hmmm what villager types did you have in mind? I'm drawing a blank, for once. XD Other than for female villagers. What if you could court or befriend a villager, and once you're friends, they can give you gifts or follow you around sort of like with wolves and help you do stuff? Chop trees, plant and harvest crops, perhaps mine...? That sounds like slavery though, doesn't it? Hmmm but you have to give them something in return, and if you don't give it to them, they don't help, or they leave.

In the newest snapshot, 12w25a (I believe?), you can place levers on the bottom of blocks. I wonder what creative uses I can come up with for that?

Court NPC's ? oooh.. i play a lot of Fantasy RPGs that allow you to romance NPC's of both genders - regardless of your own gender. I think if Mojang or a modder did it well without resorting to "Let's have sex, babe!" or similar it'll be okay .. .but ... I don't know.... Maybe it'll work out.
I was thinking of additional NPCs such as "Baker" - "Village Elder" - "Innkeeper" ..... oooh .. Beer should be added to the game lol :P I'm digressing.

The PC I'm rebuilding is going to end up costing around $500. But! since I'm just rebuilding it, I can harvest it's audio card, disk drives, and case and I got a new power supply for a good deal, and I already have a Vista OS CD. If I had to buy those, I could see it getting up to $600 easily, maybe $700 or even $800. So it's about the same. And yeah, good gaming PCs (or really awesome everyday PCs) can run in upwards of a grand. Might get me one some day. =)

NPCs... I have mixed feelings about. They're cool and all, and I really like the trading system, but right now, Minecraft has the most NPC villagers it can handle while still having that feeling of being alone. But that's just my opinion! And even if they do implement more types and character designs and stuff like that, I can just avoid it. Haha. The beauty of Minecraft.

For the love of all that's good and Holy in this world, put that abomination in the bin!!!!! I'm talking about "Vista" if you're wondering. I had that on my old laptop and I hated it. detested it. LOATHED it. Windows 7 is much, much, much better.

On topic: Yeah - I get it that you like the NPCs as they are T --- I guess I just love variety!! and change doesn't scare me: Some things Mojang are changing about the game make me think "What? WHY!?!?" but I just do the mature thing; shrug my shoulders and learn to live with it. There always will be some person moaning that "The game is too easy!" or "I preferred version 1.1" or whatever ((I read those argument ALL the time when I played WoW, at least once a day! :P)) But I embrace change - too much of the old and not enough of the new and the game will become stagnant; I'll still continue to play it - but I would miss the updates. I'm glad they're adding in new stuff. I'm glad they're changing the AI; I'm glad they're nerfing XP; I'm glad they're making it possible to invite friends into your single-player worlds; I'm even sort of glad they're making it possible for mobs to spawn on half-slabs - it'll make my Underground base a fertile ground for monsters ((well maybe not, there should be enough light?)) - although I secretly hope they'll change that bit; But the point is I don't mind all the new stuff and whole heartedly embrace everything Mojang are doing with Minecraft.
Um .. anyhoo ....On topic ((again :P)) - How about more potions? Potions of Water Breathing and Poison Resistance would be fantastic.

I've never had a problem with Vista, and there's a guy I go to church with that worked as an IT dude at IBM, and he's never had a problem either. He thinks, and I agree, that most people who have complaints about it were trying to run it on computers that couldn't handle it, computers with not enough RAM, and computers built for XP, which was a much simpler OS graphics- and performance-wise. Windows 7 came about simply to appeal to the people who didn't understand computers. Sorry if I come off strong here, but I don't really like people hating on Vista. Haha.

Back on topic: Yeah, I just feel that with the new trading system, NPC villagers have hit their prime for now. And I like all the updates they're doing; I agree that if they stopped the game would become dull and boring. I just think NPCs should be put on the backburner for awhile until they either fix some bugs or implement more important junk like more water mobs. By then, everyone should be craving an update for the NPCs. Haha.

tl;dr

Vista's actually not all that bad.

NPCs should be on the backburner for a while until I see sharks. =)

One of my friends is still using Vista on her desktop and she never had any problems, nor did I when I would use it. *shrug* I'm pretty happy with Windows 7, but it doesn't work quite right with my tablet like Win XP did. I'm assuming it's either something I have to disable somewhere to get the tablet to work like a mouse when it's plugged in, or my tablet is too old. It still works great in programs it's designed to be used in, like Photoshop or Gimp, so I'll live with it.

Someone mentioned on the MC Forums that people shouldn't complain about updates, since Mojang is doing them for free. Hm. I forget about that. Not being into any other pc games at all, I'm not familiar with how other pc and online games work. I pretty much just play Zelda and Metroid games, so I don't have to bother with patches and dc and all that...

I'm sure Mojang is updating the game for a lot of reasons, and I hope one of them is because they enjoy it. Keeping the game fresh and exciting keeps the community talking about it, which brings in more people, and by adding things to make the game easier, they can reach more kinds of players, or younger players.

Sharks! Hostile water mob much, much needed! The oceans are big and boring, but not dangerous unless you drown. We need them to be terrifying! (can you imagine being in an abandoned mineshaft beneath the ocean, coming across a stream of water from the surface and suddenly, sharks in the mines!)

Yeah, really the only Windows OS I've ever had trouble with was ME. Worst. OS. Ever. Haha. In fact...

ballmer_peak.png

But anyways, very well put. Since Mojang is giving us all this stuff for free, I don't really have a right to complain. Hah. And I'm right there with you on the playing-console-games part (just finished Custom Robo's first half in seven hours, =D, my first [almost] straight-playthrough). I do play some Star Wars games, but they're long past getting updates. But going off my prior knowledge of PC gaming, I believe patches are typically the only free things offered to gamers, if ever.

Sharks in the mines reminds me of snakes on a plane! Which reminds me of...

(Two xkcd pics in one post? I think yes.)

I was trying to think of something stoopid ((yes, that spelling)) - it could have easily been "Bunnies on a Biplane" or something equally ridiculous!!! :P

Bunnies on a Biplane. *snorts*

Funny thing is, my sister had a rabbit that was absolutely ferocious. I would be terrified if all the bunnies were like hers.

Hahaha. Surprised that line didn't win an Oscar by itself!

I'm just worried about the airline industry not increasing their security dealing with snakes. I mean, that movie just makes me think that all airplanes need a snake handler on board. Or a shotgun and some machetes in a special Snake Emergency room. Haha. And after watching Sea Snakes, submarines need them, too. =P Haha.

But back on topic! What about some sort of Leviathan thing being an ocean hostile mob? Does anyone think that would be a little much? I think maybe have some sort of something you have to do first to make it appear so you can go fight it or something. Thought?

More potions would be awesome! Ya know, the More Spiders mod introduces a water breathing attribute. It's pretty cool, and would be neat if it was implemented as a potion in the actual game.

Three words: "UNLEASH THE KRAKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
heehee
Sorry couldn't help it. A huge underwater creature would be awesome - can you imagine trying to kill it?!!?
One would assume it would be a "boss" mob like the Enderdragon?
Oh snap! A new "Aqua" Realm?
Sorry I'm getting carried away here - I'll start going on about Pirate Ships and sunken galleons, and sea battles with Cannons... and .... Somebody restrain me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heck. Yes. An aqua realm would be amazing! Is there even a mod for that? I mean, I've seen a lot of stuff on the Minecraft forums that I'm all like "Whoa! That would be awesome!" and it turns out there's a mod for it. But... this just seems too epic. Ocean's are huge, too, so why not? Dude. The picture GUI and paint mod are going to have to wait when I get my BS in CS. I'ma do an "Aqua Realm" mod. =D

The above should probably go in the Mods thread. Haha. But anyways, I think the Leviathan/Kraken/Giant Beast should be like the Enderdragon, yeah. Only, harder. Haha. But to do this, swimming or boats would have to be improved, or both, don't ya think?
