The bar looks really great. Sheer awesomeness.

What type of wall are you thinking? Stone castle-like wall, or a wood, sort of stockade look?

Thanks, Tower! Hm. I think for durability, I'll have to build at least the bottom portion of the wall out of stone. That's if I build a wall at all. If it looks like too much of a daunting task, I may not bother. But now I'm starting to really want a wall, especially if I can add some color to it.

Oragel's gross. =P When I was little, I would always accidentally get too much and my whole side of my mouth would go numb. Haha.

I'm liking that lighting! Especially the one left over the pool table. Reminds me of those glass pool bar ceiling lamps.

You know, they really should implement that item teleporter because I have a ton of diamonds that I don't think I'll ever use up, and all you guys could use some more. Hahaha.

Ooh, item teleporter. I still like my request of being able to friend people and send them stuff from one of your worlds and give it to your friend who can then use it in one of theirs.

So, I walked around a bit, doing a little survey of Merris's surroundings. There is a whole other section of the extreme hills biome that I don't consider Merris at all (it's too far and Merris won't be that big, geez!), and part of Merris sort of bleeds into the surrounding swamp and forest biomes. So no walling up an entire biome. Also, it seems like it'd be kind of difficult to build walls in a primarily mountainous region when it already has natural barriers. Perhaps for the flatter areas that invaders may use, I"ll put up smallish walls with little gates and guardhouses. I want to think of the world as a relatively war free place, at least in the time that the characters I've developed currently live in, but there are bandits and mercenaries and pirates and such.

Will still put up some guard towers high up on the mountains, but I think that Merris will be relatively open. Maybe walls will work better for flatter terrain like deserts or plains.

I also enchanted another pick and a shovel, both diamond. Got Eff III Unbreaking III on them both, I think. Used my new pick to quickly remove the last of the hill in my tree nursery area and redid some of the tree placement, adding in more trees for the oak and birch varieties since they can grow closer together. Keeping the wide spacing for spruce and jungle trees, though.

And, what else did I do? Oh! I went caving in one of the first caves I ever explored, in the forest next to the tree nursery. There's an abandoned mineshaft down there but I barely touched it. I think at the time I found it, I was just not really wanting to tackle it. I do remember taking out a cave spider spawner. And this is the mineshaft with a random pig in it. Guess what? The pig is still there. I couldn't see it, but I could hear it oinking in the shadows somewhere.

I was pleasantly surprised to spot some diamonds! You can see more diamond ore in the distance if you squint, and of course it was near lava, and I constantly heard skellies somewhere above my head:

Spoiler

With my Fortune III pick I got thirteen diamonds out of all those (there were a few more under the exposed ones, can't recall how many). After making the new pick axe and shovel, I was happy to get some back. Still pretty low on them, though. I'm hoping to finally make a full suit of diamond armor and a kick ass diamond sword when 1.3 comes out but I"ll need to scrounge up some more diamonds first.

Nice job on the diamonds. Finally, another person sees the light and thought behind caving!

Your plans for Merris seem very well-thought out and planned. Can't wait to see the end result!

Smallish walls on the flat areas with gates and guardhouses sounds like a good idea. *Nods.

Birches can grow close together? Well that helps me out tremendously. Hahaha.

The pig is still there. Maybe it's stuck. Haha. You should def go kill it. Actually, no. Just leave it to die. ^_^

You finally found some diamonds! Yay!

I mostly was caving to light them up so when I build over the caves I don't have to worry as much about lag and monsters moaning beneath my feet. But yeah, I was hoping to find some diamonds and lapis in a more exciting fashion. And I did! I still prefer branch mining for the amount I get, but it gets so boring and I want to start a new branch mine that is much better organized but lazy.

Wartower, I'm actually not very organized at all! I did put a lot of thought into what I want for Merris, though, that's true. I jot down ideas, sketch, imagine, etc, all the time. I only wish I could finish a single project from start to finish. I'll blame that on the lack of 1.3. I'm waiting for new stairs and things. Yeah. That's it. Yup. :P

Keeping my buildings relatively small, it can be hard to add details, but I do what I can.

I think you can plant birches with one block between them, but I have three blocks between each tree and they seem to grow fast enough. I'm sure the wiki has better info than me, but sometimes it's fun to learn things from videos without even looking for the info. I learned this from Baj of Mindcrack. Don't really watch him but maybe I should start.

Lag and moaning monsters beneath your feet can be rather worrisome. Especially if you have an Efficiency IV diamond shovel, remove two blocks of dirt beneath you instead of one, and you fall into a big pit full of cave spiders and skeletons. But maybe that won't happen now! ^_^

Ahh, I had no idea you could plant birches close; I thought it was only oaks. I guess that makes sense, now that I think about it, because of the forest biomes and how close everything is together, inculding the birches.

I've fallen into pits before, but luckily never one filled with cave spiders or skellies. It's mostly a creeper, or a zombie. Or two.

No updates today. :P

You know what I just realized? I've never seen a spider jockey in a cave. I mean, it has to be possible, I've just never seen it. Haha.

Huh. You know what? I've never seen a spider jockey in a cave, either. It's always out in the open.

Still no updates. I fooled around on my bro's Mac with the newest snapshot today, and went on a server to help with blowing up the old map, since they're going to start a new map tomorrow for the pre-release.

Are we all just kind of in a little hiatus waiting for 1.3, or what? Well, at least Doggy is doing something lol.

Yes! I looked up on the wiki where all they can spawn, and it actually makes sense what they say: Spider jockies die pretty quick in caves since the spiders can climb the walls; the skeletons sufficate when they do so.

Yeah, I'm not doing much, either. Haha. Waiting for 1.3 + job searching + Pokémon + YouTubing + church stuff + shopping + school related madness has made me very not-wanting-to-do-stuff. Hahaha.

Hurray for doggyluvuh actually doing stuff! Haha.

Huh. Poor skeletons. Sounds like they're at the mercy of their mounts, like players riding pigs. You can't control them. :( Now I feel bad for jockies! Almost...

At least you have a real excuse! I got nothin'.

Skeletons are dumb. I no feel sorry. Haha.

You had that toothache. That's as good of an excuse as shopping is. Haha.

It's raining where you are, too, doggyluvuh? It's been raining, like, every day here in Florida.

I haven't even touched my AMCWAS world in three days. :( I feel bad. Now I'm wishing I voted yes for using the Pre-release for AMCWAS, because I want those colored stairs and slabs!

Only two more days now. Two more days....I think I can make it. I haven't combusted yet, hopefully I"m not going to. Last time I checked, I'm not a Creeper. Or am I? o:

I finally did something in my AMCWAS world today. Realized that I should probably stock up on books before 1.3 or at least try to complete my book store since that will require a lot of book shelves. I have a silk touch axe now so that makes book shelf experimenting much easier.

Oh and I realized I'd rather have a book store than a library and that there isn't enough room beside it for the P.O. so I'm going to have to find another location for that.

Spoiler

Got a temporary (Drink!) sugar cane farm going close by so the stupid things will grow while I'm fiddling with stuff in the town square. Need a lot of resources for bookshelves :/. I also took down my enchanting area since I think I'll make an enchantment room in the bookstore. If I can find room. May have to have a secret room for that.

Also flooded my crypt and added some mossy cobble here and there, as well as chests in each grave. Nothing in them yet. Too lazy to run back home to stock them with bones and things. No mobs should be able to spawn down there but now I think it's way too dark. Might add in some redstone torches in the grave nooks for a bit of moody lighting.

Spoiler

Don't know if I've mentioned before, but my bare minimum requirements to consider Merris done enough to start another village are:

  • Inn
  • Post Office and Mailboxes
  • Jail
  • Treasury
  • Watch Towers

I have a lot more I would like to do but they're mostly details and things. And even when building another village, I may return to Merris since my 'main' characters live there and I'm quite fond of it, despite all its flaws.

I've really been itching to do a desert village. So that may be the next village I tackle. I also have some information.

Remember my giant tree in Merris? I'm planning on having lots of giant trees in the forest village, and my theory is going to be that the giant tree was a gift from the forest village to Merris, and the two villages have long been allies. Going to be cliche and probably  have the forest villagers living in the trees. Since I will be building my giant trees, I don't see why I shouldn't make them into livable areas.

When's the next world download? I can't remember now. :P

I have no clue when the next world download is. I guess whenever we want.

Villagers living in trees? Where have I heard that before? *cough*Ewoks*cough*

Books are very important in the next update, that's true. I think I've got a fair amount, or at least a bunch of placed bookshelves.

I wasn't able to edit my post, so sorry for double posting.

But I thought I'd add that I made more progress on my book store today. It has two levels now and I used the enchantment table in the display window to get a sword with Knockback I Fire Aspect I Sharpness I. Not bad for five levels. :P

Made some more books and shelves but I'm too tired to make more. I just wanted to knock out some of the work on the book store. The upper level probably needs like 30 book shelves but I have plenty of leather so that's no big deal to finish when 1.3 comes out today. :D

Random creeper spawned in the loft of my barn and scared me. I got him before he went boom and saw that there was one little spot that was a bit dark in the middle. Wow.

I did take screenies but seem to be having trouble logging into my photobucket, so sadly I can't show you. Oh well.

1.3 IS ALMOST HERE! HOURS TO GO!!!

Fffffffffffffffffffffff it's here. And it's 1.3.1. I don't get why TNT shouldn't harm you in Peaceful. :/ That doesn't make sense to me but whatevs.

Okay. AMCWAS is back on schedule now, or so I hope. :D

UPDATE:

I loaded myself up with some supplies for my journey. Made two Enderchests and set one down in my old enchanting spot and put some silk touch and fortune picks/axes in there.

Spoiler

My main goals of this journey are in two parts. First, I want to find structures, namely villages, pyramids and jungle ruins.
Second, I want to return with cocoa beans and emeralds, perhaps some ice and ferns too (even though ferns aren't new, I'd rather take ferns from farther jungles I probably won't build in since I don't believe there's a way to farm them.)

So with this in mind, I set off on my trek, first filling out more of my first map I've constructed. The first jungle I come across is the one I accidentally found last time I was exploring prior to 1.3, so I had to get to the other side of it to find what I was looking for:

Spoiler

There is also a cool jungle ravine I made note of with coords so I can come back to it. Looks cool with the vines.

I continued on and seems like most of the biomes I've come across are jungle or desert which is precisely what I wanted, for once. Noticed that jungles don't seem to lag me as bad now, but snow biomes are eeeeeeeeviiiiil.

Came across my first AMCWAS village!

Spoiler

It's tiny and there's a huge gaping hole beneath part of it, so I don't really want to settle here. I lit up the buildings and me and a farmer had a little slumber party. All the villagers wanted emeralds in exchange for crap items, so sadly I couldn't do any trading, as I didn't have any yet. :P I left the villagers for now. If I don't come across a better village I may return to improve this one and breed them.

Next I found...

Spoiler

That is my journey thus far. Hopefully I'll discover more next time.

I think they replaced the TNT in the coding for Peaceful with balloons or something. At least, that's what I said.

Hey, you found mine and Wartower's old village! There's several zombie spawners underneath it. =)

Hurrah for cocoa bean plant pod growing-on-the-side-of-a-tree thingamajig finds!

Why do want ferns, exactly?

Yay! 1.3!
(Although my launcher is being a total derp and won't download it. Hopefully it'll sort itself out, and it'll all be good. In the meantime- I'm still using the pretty much identical pre-release).

Daydrifter, it looks like you'v done some awesome stuff!
As Gilbert said, that's our village! Cool find.
