Don't know what kind of music you guys like; I could be absolutely alone here. Haha. But! Amazon is selling The Greatest Video Game Music performed by the London Philharmonic for six bucks.
Just about all I listen to is video game OST's, arranges and remixes (primarily Touhou stuff at the moment), so this is awesome news! I'm sorta broke though, so hopefully the sale lasts a little while. :P
What, no Metroid? That series has some of the best game music ever composed! No wonder it's so cheap, lol.
If you guys like really old-school 8-bit stuff or synth-type music, I got a ton of that junk that I can put on MediaFire. For most of it, I got the MIDIs off VGMusic and then just converted them to MP3s, so it was free. ^_^ Kinda low quality compared to everything else, though, in terms of instrumentation/articulations/musicalities since it is all computerized. Some I ripped off game disks, so it has better instrumentation, but the musicalities are still not up there with orchestral music.
I like the old 8 bit stuff for the nostalgia value, but I don't think I listen to it enough to need to download any. Thanks for the offer, though! Unless you have a good quality sound of the snow world in Super Mario Bros 3. I forget which world number that is. I tended to skip it when I played.
I forgot how much I love the SMG music until I watched my bro play some of the second one yesterday. Got any Super Mario Galaxy stuff? Eh? Eh? Do ya? :D
Annnnnndddd, I do have one that came with the Amazon download, but I wouldn't feel right about uploading it, for obvious reasons. Haha. I'll check vgmusic tomorrow, though! ^_^
Found a few on vgmusic today, so I'll convert them tomorrow. There's one, in fact, that's very similar to the piece from the Amazon download. Main difference being it's not a live orchestra. Haha.
Uploading as we speak! Only got around to listening to half the available tracks, so there's only ten right now, but I'll listen to the rest tomorrow and see if there's any good ones in that batch! ^_^
Hehe. No problem! Oh, and there's some tracks that are very similar to each other just because I didn't know which one was best since I've never played that game. Haha. Getting the rest today along with some other random stuff just cause I feel like getting more music.
You never played Super Mario Galaxy? Or it's sequel? I never got far on either one, but I'm one of those people that love to watch others play. My brother had to get every single star and do every single extra star and I would watch him redo a level like fifty times in a row. XD
Not sure which one it's in, but there's a level called something like Melty Monster Galaxy and there are lava hippos in it. I thought it was a really strange, but cool, idea, and even named one of my flash drives Lava Hippo lol.
Haven't even listened yet, I first downloaded on the Mac and forgot to get the flash drive, so I'm just gonna redownload on the laptop. It's actually easier and I don't have to get off my butt. :P
I remember playing one level at my friend's house from the first one. I sucked majorly at it. Haha. I never was good with platforming games, and when you throw in the third dimension, I might as well give in before picking up the controller. Haha.
Except for Super Mario Bros. Wii. I'm actually okay at that. Course, it's not in 3D.
Lava Hippo! Haha. Reminds me of those dumb frog things in Skyward Sword. *Shudder. You sure it's not Melty Molten Galaxy? If not, some of the titles may be off. Haha. Just going off of what the vgmusic site says. *Shrug. And this upload has less because the last half had almost nothing good.
Oh, it's French horn you play! I was under the impression it was the trumpet or trombone. I knew you played a horn at least.
I didn't keep up with playing music, but it did instill in me an appreciation for music. I tend to enjoy experimental or folky or just off the wall type stuff. If it's pretty and kind of strange, I'll probably love it. Especially if it has an accordion in it and isn't polka. I'm weird. D:
I play trumpet, too. Haha. I definitely wouldn't consider it a main instrument or anything, though, since I only really played it until freshman year, and then after that, it was only in our jazz band. Never learned trombone, sadly.
Ooooh, like Sea Wolf? I love them. And they're releasing a new album coming up shortly, I do believe. At least, they're recording tracks and posting on FB about stuff. Haha.
I meant more instrumental type stuff, but wow, never heard of Sea Wolf but I checked them out on Youtube and I'm liking them so far! Feel free to give me suggestions. :D
Sea Wolf's the only band I know of that has that particular sound. Haha. Jimmy Eat World's newest album, Invented, has lots of acoustic stuff on the deluxe edition, and Jon Foreman also does a lot of acoustic/folk kinda stuff.
But if you're looking for instrumental stuff, definitely give a listen to Marc Papeghin. He arranges/plays video game and movie music. ^_^
